When Bill Wallace, Town Crier of Lane Cove, New South Wales contacted me to say he was coming over from Australia to visit his family in the Royal Borough I was happy to agree to him joining me for a few events during the summer.
Today was my first opportunity to see Bill in action when he joined me at Holyport Fair. Bill is celebrating his Eightieth birthday this year but still performs at a volume that is every bit as loud as someone half his age. After 30 years as a crier in Oz he is also well armed with witty one liners and anecdotes, making him remarkably good company.
Looking forward to seeing Bill again next weekend when we will be joining in with the Old Windsor Carnival procession.
