I was in Windsor today for the State Visit of The President of the United Arab Emirates.
Didn’t do any proclamations, but spent a lot of time meeting and greeting visitors. There was a brilliant atmosphere and the soldiers were turned out in style.
Best moment was when someone from South America (I think) earnestly asked me “Excuse, are you King of Windsor?”
Worst moment was when someone turned round and screamed at the sight of me! It wasn’t just a yelp, but a full on Hammer House of Horror scream. Since there were several thousand people in uniform in town I can’t even blame that one on the livery. Oh well!
Had about a thousand photos taken with people and a good few fascinating conversations. All in all a great day out in Windsor.
