I just got back from a short trip to India where I was lucky enough to be asked to perform a few cries for a private birthday party in Jodhpur. The party was a lavish affair at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, the former residence of His Highness the Maharajah. A stunning setting for a great event that attracted Bollywood stars, business leaders and even legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

The party was for the lovely Mrs Nita Ambani who was very kind about my birthday proclamation. The rest of the day was taken up attempting to help welcome the guests and then let them know where the next ‘event’ was happening. It was (unsurprisingly) hot work, but enjoyable too.

It was my first trip to India and I was utterly astounded by how beautiful Jodhpur was and how welcoming everyone was towards me.

I particularly enjoyed the funny conversations with the hotel doormen who wore fantastic uniforms, but also had the most impressive mustaches in town.

Didn’t get too much time to explore, but downtown Jodhpur is the vibrant, loud, frenetic sort of Indian city centre you see in the movies. If you ever get the chance to visit, seize it with both hands.
