Last night at Windsor’s Guildhall I gave a short cry of welcome to members of the Borough’s twinning committee and guests from some of our twin towns. I was going to attempt a proclamation in French, German, Dutch and Italian… but then thought better of it. Why risk stuffing it up in 5 languages when getting one language right is hard enough?
This morning I got an email from Doug the Hatter at Ascot Top Hats with further thoughts about cockades. He send 4 pages of notes and pictures! It really is fantastic to have someone with such a deep and passionate understanding of civic dress history to be helping me ensure the town crier’s livery is as good as it can be.
