Since my appointment was announced on 5th Nov 2012 the phone has hardly stopped ringing. Loads of journalists seeking quotes and a few radio interviews too.

Had a great chat with Chris Brown, the Rock and Roll Town Crier from Wimborne Minster. He has been involved with both the Polyphonic Spree and The Flaming Lips, two of my favourite bands, so this was a real treat for me.

I also got a lovely call of congratulations from Owen Collier the Town Crier of Royal Wooton Bassett. He and Peter Dauncey, the Town Crier from Melksham were kind enough to help run the ‘cry-off’ at Windsor’s Central Station steps where I and my fellow candidates practiced a town cry in front of the general public. Thanks to both of them for being so encouraging and making the event such fun.

Thanks are also due to Mayor Councillor Colin Rayner, Cllrs Eileen Quick, Richard Kellaway and Alan Mellins and BBC Radio Berkshire presenter Rory McAlister who judged our efforts and gave me the honour of being selected for the role.
