Three announcements made at Windsor town centre urging people to head down to the King’s Road roundabout where Her Majesty would shortly be unveiling the new ‘Windsor Greys’ statue.

We then walked down the long walk and joined the crowd to watch the Queen, Prince Phillip and Prince William arrive, welcomed by the Mayor and other dignitaries to unveil a lifelike  statue of two of the Queen’s own horses. The plinth is hidden beneath a grass mound so from the road and long walk it really does look as if the horses are standing on the lawn. A nice touch.

Lots of people turned out to cheer the royals and press and TV crews were also there to capture the event. Once the royal party had left I was asked what I ‘did’ by a family down from Scotland for the day so I delivered an impromptu cry of welcome to the two little boys who got a big cheer from the remaining crowd.
