Saturday 8th December 2012. – Its showtime.

The day started early with a 7.20am live interview on BBC Radio Berkshire. Apparently I sounded as if I had just woken up… which I had.

I put on my ‘temporary’ livery and got to the Guildhall in Windsor where at midday I ‘cried’ the opening of the Museum’s Victorian Christmas event. Loads of friends and family turned up to wish me luck which I really appreciated. Then a wander through town accompanied by family well-wishers and Cllr Mellins (who has my sincere thanks for first proposing the idea of a town crier to the council). I got stopped every few yards by tourists wanting a photograph and everyone was absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed the experience and found a few spots where the acoustics are great for an impromptu cry in future.

Then it was off to Maidenhead where I introduced the deputy mayor who cut the ribbon to re-open the refurbished, 141 year old Bell Public house.

Got home with aching feet and a huge eagerness to get out there and do it all again.
